I know there are lots of americans on this forum and this topic is especially for you guys.

Today I was shocked to see a headline on the #1 news site in The Netherlands stating; "Half of all euthanasia cases are forced".

The news article was about Rick Santorum, stating that this was the case in The Netherlands. And that people wear a special bracelet if they don't want to be euthanized!
(Youtube)

This is ofcourse a bunch of hogwash.

(As a side note; Last year I've seen several terminally ill people, who were close to me, die around me. None of them wanted to be euthanized and none of those people had any help stopping their hearts. Also, none of them wore a bracelet in hospital and only one of them died in hospital. The others were at home.)

As you might expect I'm pretty surprised (and shocked) to see an American polititian tell such lies on public TV; especially about practices in an allied country.

So, here's a few questions for you guys;
1) Do Americans actually believe this and, if so, why?
2) If you don't believe this, would you still vote for a person telling such things? Again, if so, why?

I'm asking this just to get a better feel and understanding for the US elections and US citizens in general. This is not to bash on some politician or to force my views on anyone. I'm just curious about what effect this has on people.

Let's not discuss being for, or against abortions or euthanasia here; that's besides the point.

(If anyone wants to know; I'm christian and against abortions. As for euthanasia; I don't think it helps anyone if someone suffers pointlessly when he/she doesn't want to.)

So, I got bored and I was thinking about the mechanics of companies in this game. As it stands, companies are composed of leased owner-operators. This is fine, but I had an idea. What if companies had the option of assigning trucks to its drivers from a company motor pool? This way, drivers could use company trucks that they wouldn't otherwise be able to afford, etc. Perhaps this could also be integrated with an option of choosing a company type: owner-operator vs. conventional operation. Now, to be honest, I don't really know if this would offer any worthwhile advantages to how things work now, and I suspect that it might also be a pain in the rear to code. Regardless, I think it's at least an interesting concept for the game. Any thoughts?

(This may not be in the right place, or it might have been suggested before. If so, then my bad.)

02/10/12 - Update #2 - Large Update Announcement

PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE UPDATE BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS!

First off let me explain something: This is just an update/announcement on what is going to be coming in the next month-2 months, this is not something that is being pushed out currently. This is just to inform you guys what we have been working on. Please understand this, it is a massive update and is going to take time to code.

Ok so now we begin:

Over the last month and half I have been working with Norman and Conroy on coming up with the biggest update to TruckingSim yet. It will change TruckingSim for the better, it will also extend the length of the game by a large amount (game could take up to 2 and half years to beat and get everything, instead of 8 months). However implementing all these changes is going to take some time which is why we are only announcing this today and later (possibly up to 1 month) we will push it out. Almost every file will have to be touched/changed in some way or another, it will take time.

So what is this update?

We are adding a Prestiging System into TS.

What does prestige mean?

Prestiging is when you get to a certain point (at this time it is 100XP, this could change), you will "Prestige". When you prestige you will be reset to 0XP, your truck and items will be taken away (maybe sold), odometer will be reset, and the game will become slightly harder with each prestige level (Shorter route times), and it will cost money to prestige but anything left over you get to keep (username, pass, current city, stocks, company/company position, etc...).

There are rewards to prestiging though: you get more trucks with each prestige level, at one level you will get access to imported trucks, rewards for routes will become more (more XP/Money), finally with each level you will get access to an endorsement that you can buy. When you buy an endorsement it stays with you through prestige levels until you buy a better one.

You said something about prestige levels, what are those?

When you "Prestige" you gain a "Prestige Level", at this time there are 4 (maybe 5 depending on how you look at it) levels.

Everyone will start at level 0, meaning the game is the easiest it is going to be but it also comes with no rewards and only the original trucks.

With each level the difficulty and the rewards go up!

Wait, wait, wait you said its going to cost money to prestige???

Yes, prestiging is going to cost money, so you will need to plan for it as you reach the required XP. Also the price will go up with each level, so for example:

Price for level 1 - $10,000

Price for level 2 - $20,000

Price for level 3 - $30,000

Price for level 4 - $40,000

These are just examples and may not be used, but you get the point.

So you said we would get access to more trucks...how many we talking?

We are talking about roughly 50 domestic trucks, and then the imported trucks as well.

----------

Ok so that above explains the update for prestiging, now another update that is coming is we are scrapping the donation system. We will no longer reward in-game money for real money. Instead we are moving to a "subscription" type system. You can subscribe just once (like for 1 week to get those bonuses for only 1 week), or you can have a recurring payment (weekly where we will credit your account weekly and you will keep the benefits as long as the payment is going through). Where you will subscribe to the game for X amount of time. During this time you will get benefits such as:

Purchase trucks from 1 Tier above your current tier (if not on the last tier already), we might make a GPS for subscribers only, +5 automatically added to speed, other stuff we haven't come up with. Basically we don't want to give subscribers HUGE advantages, but its like buying a premium version of a service.

If you have any ideas of something that you would add for this, also what you would be comfortably paying for we would appreciate that information as well!

As always post any questions, comments, concerns, anything below!

If you remember or not CA Admin and I are working on a new game called Citizens World.

We have been working on it for sometime now and decided to open the game for a public Alpha test.

This means that everyone can register to the game now and try it out.

Of course we would be more than happy if you would actually make comments about the game in the game forum so this way we will be able to make the game even better by using your idea's and comments.

Hope to see you there,

Before I start, I am half asleep here so I'm sorry for any spelling/grammar mistakes

This is for all you web developers out there

A few people have been waiting on this so I decided to get it finished

I've tried to make the documentation as easy as possible

The API is being released with PHP and JavaScript support. More languages will follow later on

I don't really need to explain much
Just make sure you post anything API related in the API section of our forum
This includes support when using it

Everything else can be found on our API which is listed below:

TruckingSim API v2

Might be bugs, if so use the bug report system in game

For an example of our API in use, visit Norman's website:
Truckers Inc - Terminals
The locations of the markers on the map are generated using our API
Along with the types of terminals in each city

Your actions get logged along with your key, this is why it's important that you DON'T share it with other users
If you get banned because you gave someone your key and they misused it, don't blame us

Have fun!

I noticed something odd.

I had a contract for hauling 80.000 lbs Corn from Abequerque to Halifax which should be finished at 05-02-2012 16:29:57 PM.
I send 2 trucks to do the job and the deliverd way ahead of time. Last truck arrived at 01-02-2012.

When they both started the route the end time was calculated on 31-01-2012 (don't know the exact time any more, somewhere in the early morning)
Because I don't have 24 hour acces to the internet (work ) both drivers deliverd after the early 31st and both were payed less than the amount that was displayed in the "collect on time", even though I was early with finishing the contract.

According to the contract I'm on time, but because I passed the "Estimated end time" of the route I get less payout. It feels a bit like I'm getting ript off .

What is mis in the Driver page is how much cargo your truck has loaded for a route.
In the contrac page off your company it doesn't show how much cargo is en route. The "cargo weight left" only goes down after you deliverd the cargo, not when you loaded it in to the truck.

With the wear of the tires your truck load will also get lower. Does this also mean that when you loaded 40.000 lbs and drive, lets say, 2000 miles with it, that you will lose cargo en route?

Example: 40.000 lbs loaded, drove 2000 miles, 39.500 delivered. Lost 500 lbs due to tire wear.
